An expectation of the PYP at McKinley is that our inquiries will lead to responsible action as a result of learning.
We will explore four kinds of action at McKinley: direct action (person to person), indirect action (helps the community), advocacy for action (create awareness of an issue), and research for action (find, gather, report information). Check out some resources for supporting action in the classroom and at home. The Parent and Teachers of McKinley (PTM) is models the spirit of taking action through each form of action. For example, we have a volunteer lead production team that supports classrooms in a variety of ways. The PTM organizes events for students and families. The PTM has undertaken huge action project with the goal of having a running/walking path constructed around the perimeter of the play field. To learn more about these actions and future action, please contact anyone on the PTM board or visit their website. |
